Las Vegas Utility BillsThe following are utility bills for an average Las Vegas home. This 1650 square foot single-story home has two roof-mounted A/C units using natural gas for heating and electricity for air conditioning. The home was constructed in 1980. Energy saving factors were not a major concern in those days and this home is typical for its age. The home faces east, so the rear portion is exposed to the late afternoon heat from the sun. Fortunately, there are three mature trees providing shade as well as a covered patio. The front of the home also contains a variety of mature landscaping which also provides shade in the morning. The front and side yards are sodded while the rear yard sports two gardens. This requires frequent watering during the summer months.
